Weekend Wanderlust: Volume 1

October is a magical month, especially in New England. There is a chill in the air, the sun goes down earlier, a golden glow casts over everything, and the leaves turn magical colors. At Solette, we believe in making everyday more beautiful with small things and we love a reason to celebrate a new season. So this is our first issue of our Weekend Wanderlust series where we share some of our favorite things to do, eat, make, drink, and listen to that will inspire you to make your Friday through Sunday a bit more beautiful.

TO DO

farmers market

We happen to love a fall farmstand moment, maybe even more than summer farmers markets. The squash, apples, and pumpkins are abundent in our New England towns and the colors blend so beautifully with the changing leaves around us that you can't help but buy way more squash than you could manage to eat in one season. Make sure to pick up some apples...we have a delicious recipe to share with you next!

To Bake

caramel apple pastries

We couldn't help but include this TikTok viral recipe we discovered last week. It's actually vegan (we found our vegan dough at Whole Foods), but you could easily use regular puff pastry dough instead. These little pastries are the easiest and tastiest fall treat and it's the perfect use for those farmer's market apples.

TO DRINK

pumpkin spice espresso martini

This combo is like a match made in autumnal heaven. With just a few ingredients, you'll have the most festive and cozy cocktail to snuggle up with this weekend. This recipe is from one of our favorite blogs, Nyssa's Kitchen and you can find the recipe via the link below.

To Make

painted pumpkins

Decorating for the season doesn't have to be difficult. We love a good craft project, and there are so many great ways to decorate pumpkins this year from painting, to decoupage, and more. We went the painting route because we already had some acrylic paint and brushes, but you can pick these items up at any craft store, and even Target! Below is the link to our inspiration board on Pinterest to get your creative juices flowing.

TO Thrift

a cozy sweater

Whenever we can buy second-hand we do it! Plus, it's so fun to find something unique that not everyone else has. We love to shop in person at Savers or Goodwill, but online apps like Poshmark have second hand items that need a new home too.

If you're not into thrifting but you still want to make a more sustainable choice, we love the sweater selections from Sezane. They are a French, certified B corporation, that makes beautiful and high quality garments that will last a lifetime.

If you're in the Boston area, they currently have a pop-up on Newbury Street you can shop in person.

playlist

cozy up to fall

We made this playlist with cozy mornings in mind. It's a mix of our favorite fall sounds with lyrics that touch on the changing leaves, the crisp air, and the cozy fall feels. It's the perfect playlist for your morning cup of coffee or a Sunday afternoon at home. If you have any suggestions on songs to add, DM us on Instagram and we'll add it!

We hope you have an amazingly beautiful weekend!
